How to Reduce Car Mantenance Costs? Synthetic Oil is an Option

We all know how expensive car maintenance can be, thus one of the reasons owners are questioning what is synthetic oil, and can it reduce car maintenance. The use of a suitable oil helps maintain the proper functioning of your car engine.

Synthetic oil has grown in popularity because of how it protects the engine. Synthetic lubricants contain greater amounts of refined base oils than those typically found in conventional mineral oils, giving you far greater protection for your engine. In short, synthetic oil outperforms conventional engine oil.

Understanding What is Synthetic Oil and How it Makes a Difference

Lubricants are usually made from crude oil that is transformed into a base oil. Additions are then mixed in the oil base to change the characteristics thus providing protection and viscosity of the oil.

In contrast, the synthetic oil undergoes a highly advanced distillation, refining and purification process. It also has a much higher purity and quality than regular oil. To be more precise, the molecules of synthetic oil have a constant mass and dimension while ordinary oil molecules undergo mass variation.

Synthetic lubricants are designed to provide superior protection against wear of the engine’s life expectancy and improve fuel efficiency, reduce downtime heat, reduce general maintenance, and finally, synthetic oil helps improve the engine in cold temperatures.

Engine oil must perform four major functions:

1.    The oil should lubricate the engine to prevent metal surfaces in an engine grind and shred due to friction. In addition, the oil must create a border between the moving parts to make them slippery, increasing the performance, power and the efficiency

2.    The engine oil protects against corrosion of engine components. Corrosion is usually caused by acids which are formed by the oxidation of the oil and contamination that comes from condensation and side effects of combustion

3.    The engine oil keeps the engine clean. Even the smallest of contaminants deposited into an engine can cause serious damage if not removed. The role of the lubricant is to retain contaminants while it filters and separates from the oil.

4.    Oil cools the engine. Heat is produced by combustion and friction of the engine components. Antifreeze is only responsible for cooling the upper part of the engine. The remaining engine pistons including the camshaft, crankshaft, and synchronizing gears, and all other critical parts are cooled by the motor oil

Synthetic oil saves you time and money because your vehicle will be protected for up to 10 thousand miles(*) you won’t have to do the oil change as often while providing excellent protection against wear and tear.
